PARTNER WITH US

Turnberry Primary & Infant School

Dr. Warren A. Wallace, president of the Jamaica Association in Switzerland (JAS), wishes to thank members and friends of our JAS community for their generous donations towards supporting the Sick Bay and Isolation Centre building project of the Turnberry Primary and Infant School (in St. Ann, Jamaica). This health facility will be needed by the school to accommodate students affected by the COVID19 pandemic. A big thank you from the students of Turnberry Primary and Infant School

More shelters for the homeless

Due to the impact of COVID19 the homeless in our communities have been adversely affected, which inherently increases homelessness. Through your monetary support, which we received during our JAS Christmas Fundraising and Zoom Telethon in December of 2020, the Jamaica Association in Switzerland was able to donate $1600 US dollars to the charity Candle In The Dark (in Mandeville, Manchester Jamaica) in helping to build additional shelters for the homeless and the mentally challenged. Without the support of you, our community, the Jamaica Association in Switzerland would not have been able to make this impactful contribution for a worthy cause. A very big thank you to all!

More classroom space to ensure social distancing of students while seated in class

The teachers and students of the Slipe Leased Primary and Infant School (in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) are grateful for the support of the Jamaica Association in Switzerland in assisting the school build two new classrooms. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the new classrooms will provide additional classroom spacing for students, ensuring students are socially distanced  while seated in class.

COVID-19 preparedness for back to school

Thanks to your support, the Jamaica Association in Switzerland was able to assist the children and staff of the St. Tekle Haimanot Early Childhood Development Center (located in St. Thomas) with their back to school COVID-19 preparedness. Through your monetary gifts the school was able to acquire masks, hand sanitisers, cleaning agents, a first aid kit and two non-contact thermometers for aiding a safe start to the new school year.

Hodges Land Basic School project: from pit latrines to bathrooms with running water

Assisting the most vulnerable of our Jamaican society has been a key focus of the Jamaican Association in Switzerland. Through the efforts of you, our members and friends, the JAS raised sufficient funds to assist the Hodges Land Basic School (in St. Elizabeth) in transitioning from the use of external pit latrines to new bathrooms with running water.

White Hall Primary School project: building of a water tank

Without your support we would not have been able to contribute to the health of these young children.
